This training program focuses on the HCR-20 Version 3 and describes why and how the HCR-20 was revised; how Version 3 differs from its predecessors; initial research validation of Version 3; what its risk factors are and how to rate them; and how to complete case formulation and risk management planning using Version 3. Participants will also have the opportunity to complete the HCR:V3 on a practice case.
Beginning February 4th, an email will be sent each week on Sunday with links to approximately 2 hours of course content to be completed during the week (videos and readings). All coursework can be completed at your own pace. There will be a consultation session each Wednesday with Drs. Stephen Hart, Kevin Douglas, Kelly Watt or Brianne Layden.
The fee for this training program is $1250 (Early registration rate $1000 until January 14, 2019) and includes all materials and worksheets. This course is 30 continuing education credits (CE’s) 20 hours online training + 10 hours of consultation. E-copies of the HCR-20 Version 3 assessment manual and instrument protocol are provided for use in this training program. In addition, case studies and other case-relevant materials are provided for training purposes. The program includes both didactic and interactive materials and allows the opportunity to apply the information and assessment instruments to a sample case. Throughout the training program there will be quizzes that must be passed with a 70% in order to advance in the course. Once the course is completed participants will complete a course evaluation and then will be able to print their certificate of completion.
This Evaluation of Risk for Violence Using the HCR-20 Version 3 training program is primarily for criminal justice, mental health, and victim support professionals – those who work with (alleged) perpetrators and victims of violence. This training program is for beginner, intermediate, and advanced level clinicians.
